The ability to read well is one
of
the most important skills a student can learn. Sometimes students need
more help than is available in the classroom. You can give that help!
Volunteer during the regular school
day to be a reading mentor for one student for one-half hour each week.
You will receive training from professional school staff on what to do
during the mentoring session.
A HOSTS teacher will put together
a folder of materials specifically for your student. Once a week you
will
meet your student in the HOSTS classroom, and the two of you will
practice
reading.
If you would like to make a
difference
in a student's life, please call Kay Ivy or Amy Reeves at 277-3880.
They would be happy to visit with you!.
