Marching Band I, II, III, IV

Comprised of all instrumentalists from the Brenham High School Music Department.The marching band features a strong emphasis on entertainment and spectacle. The color guard, drumline, drum majors, color, pageantry, and music combine to bring about an experience matched in few BHS courses. Highlights for this group are the weekly performances at football games, marching contests, and parades.The band is marked by highly motivated, skilled individuals in all aspects of instrumental performances. There are four levels of this band based on grade level. Requires two blocks in the fall schedule

Symphonic Band I, II, III, IV

The showcase musical ensemble for BHS.The Symphonic Band, features the top instrumentalists from the music department. The Symphonic Band performs year-round functions through the marching band, concerts, contests, and the annual spring tour. A high standard of excellence has been the trademark of this group. Auditions are required for participation in the symphonic band. Requires two clocks on spring schedule.

Concert Band I, II, III, IV

All band students not performing with the Symphonic Band perform with the Concert Bands. These ensembles parallel the Symphonic Band with an emphasis on performance. The band activities center around concerts, contests, and spring tours where standard band literature is performed. Second period spring only class.

Percussion Class I, II, III, IV

Grade Placement: 9-12
Prerequisite: Recommendation of music teacher or Director approval

Comprised of marching and concert percussionists from the High School instrumental music department. The participants will be exposed to marching, concert, solo and ensemble skills for advanced percussionists. Students in this class must first be signed up for either marching (fall) or concert (spring band). The curriculum of this class works in conjunction with all activities of either marching or concert band, whichever activity is "in season".
