Grade Placement: 9-12 1/2 credit Develops psychomotor skill in operating the key board as well as achieving acceptable speed and accuracy levels; provides for instruction in formatting of basic documents for both personal and business use; provides opportunities for students to apply keyboarding skills in real life situational Provides instruction in the production of letters, manuscripts, tabulations, business communications, reports and themes, and composition at the keyboard; and also includes skill development in proofreading, spelling, word division, punctuation, and correction techniques. Grade Placement: 9-12 1/2 credit This course provides material relating to understanding fundamental concepts in the world of work as well an overview of economic systems, types of businesses, forms of ownership, and the individual's role and impact in a business as it relates to consumer and financial issues. A component is included for individual career planning and personal financial planning with budgeting and consumer issues. Additional topics include technology in business settings. International Business Grade Placement: 10-12 1/2 credit This course introduces concepts of the global market and economy and international trade; examines operations in a global market; provides an opportunity to study cultural differences and effects of differences on managerial practices and international law; the impact of international trade on the domestic and global economy; and examines planning, organizational sturcture, finance, marketing and foreign governmental practices. Administrative Proceures Grade Placement: 11-12 1 credit This course provides an advanced and in-depth study of concepts and skills in various systems and administrative procedures that enable a worker to manage or function in the workplace; enhances technology skills and oral and written language skills relating to effective communication; emphasizes planning and organizing work, establishing prorities, records and information management, and operation of equipment. Top Grade Placement:10-12 1/2 credit Introduces basic management concepts and leadership styles; explores managerial functions, economic and social components of productivity, international business, human relations; understands changing business environment and nature, concepts of business integrity; and develops and implements a business plan. Grade Placement: 10-12 1/2 credit Provides the prospective entrepreneur a theoretical base as well as practical and proven techniques for planning and strategy concepts, financial and organization considerations, market analysis and customer development, operations management, accounting and financial controls, and other components of entrepreneurship. Grade Placement: 9-12 1/2-1 credit Develops understanding of a skill in maintaining accurate records; includes skills used in everyday business activities both for personal and professional use; provides opportunity to develop skills related to personal financial management as well as budgeting, financial planning, cashier's records, handling of money, and tasks common to simple office practices. Grade Placement:11-12 1/2 credit A course covering three specific areas of personal finance-insurance, investments, and real estate. Content includes the fundamental principles of insurance, theory of rescue, basic features of various types of insurance, contracts, premiums, and legal statutes. Basic principles and types of investments, determination of investment goals, sources of information, and selection process for savings and investments, characteristics of stocks and bonds, selection of securities, construction of an investment portfolio, markets, analysis, and investment programming are included in the investment component. The section on real estate includes the principles and practices of dealing with real estate, market forces affection financing, sales and brokerage, land use and location analysis, and the influence of government policies upon the real estate industry. Grade Placement: 11-12 1/2 credit Introduces law and the origins and necessity of legal system; provides insight into the evolution and development of laws that govern business in our society; develops an understanding of how organization and operation of legal system impact business; develops an understanding of rights and duties within the business environment; includes contractual responsibility, protection of individual rights in legal relationships relative to warranties, product liability, secured and unsecured depts, negotiable instruments, agencies, employer-employee relations, property ownership and transfer, landlord and tenant, wills and estates, community property, social security, and taxation. Grade Placement: 10-12 1 credit Introduces general accounting concepts, principles, and procedures; emphasizes the need for financial records; provides the fundamental equation and its application to accounting procedures including the basic steps of the accounting cycle, journals and ledgers, depreciation, and personal income taxes; develops the skills knowledge, and attitudes necessary for individuals to conduct personal business or to further their education in the field of accounting. Business Computer Information Systems II Grade Placement: 11-12
1 credit Provides advanced technology skills required in teh business environment; includes workplace technology standards in applications of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, telecommunications, desktop publishing, presentation management, networking, operating systems, and emerging technologies; and develops advanced level skills. Course can count for one credit of Technology Applicaitons. Business Image Management and Multimedia Grade Placement: 10-12 1/2 credit Prerequisite: Business Computer Information Systems I (BCIS) Curriculum allows students to recognize, evaluate, and prepare for a rapidly evolving global business environment. Students apply technical skills in designing, importing, and manipulating advanced text, graphics, audio, and video used in presentation management, multimedia productions, publishing systems, and emerging technologies and apply them to the business environment. Tech Prep articulated class-3 hours Blinn credit possible. Grade Placement: 10-12 1 credit Prerequisite: Business Computer Information Systems I (BCIS) Provides a basic introduction to the technical aspects of telecommunications and networking; create, edit, and install web pages using FrontPage 98 and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).
