Introduction
to Precision Metal Manufacturing Careers
Grade Placement: 9-12 1/2 credit A cluster course designed to familiarize students with introductory skills and a basic understanding of career opportunities and training requirements for four fundamental career clusters related to metal manufacturing careers. Includes machine shop, wielding, sheet metal and quality control operations. Entrepreneurship, safety, interviewing skills, and leadership training are included. Grade Placement: 11-12 1 credit Prerequisite: Instructor and CT counselor approval A pre-employment laboratory course designed to provide a job specific training for entry-level employment in the rapidly expanding computer maintenance career field. Includes electricity/electronic theory, computer systems, data-communications, digital electronics, installations, inspections, adjustments, repair and maintenance, entrepreneurshep, safety, leadership training, and career opportunities. Grade Placement: 9-12 1/2 credit A cluster course designed to familiarize students with introductory skills and a basic understanding of career opportunities and training requirements in six fundamental career clusters related to transportation service careers: aircraft mechanics, auto body and collision repair, auto mechanics, diesel engine mechanics, small engine repair, and marine engine mechanics. Students will acquire skills which are immediately useful. Entrepreneurship, safety leadership, and career opportunities are included. Grade Placement: 10-12 2 credits Pre-employment laboratory course with job specific training for entry level employment. Includes use of repair manuals, service & repair of basic components of auto, fuel systems, engine, emission control, power trains, chassis, electrical brakes, heating and air conditioning. Grade Placement: 11-12 2 credits Prerequisite: Auto Tech 1 A pre-employment laboratory course designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in the automotive career field. Auto Tech 2 is am advanced auto tech class stressing more hands on training. Instruction emphasizes use of repair manuals, service and repair of basic components of an automobile: fuel systems, engine, emission control, power trains, chassis, electrical, brakes, heating and air conditioning. Instruction includes entrepreneurship, safety, leadership training, and career opportunities. Instruction includes a study of entrepreneurship, leadership, and career opportunities. Building Trades-2 is a more advanced building trades class stressing more hands-on training. Grade Placement: 11-12 1/2 credit A foundation study of the history and philosophy of criminal justice and its ethical considerations; rime is defined, and its nature and impact are explored. Instruction also includes an overview of the criminal justice system, law enforcement and the court systems, a study of prosecution and defense, trial processes, and corrections and penal systems. Tech Prep articulated class-3 hours Blinn College credit possible. Grade Placement: 11-12 1/2 credit Prerequisite: Introduction to Criminal Justice A foundation course designed to provide instruction in American crime problems in historical perspective, social policy affecting crime, impact and crime trends, social characteristics of specific crimes, and prevention of crime. Tech Prep articulated class-3 hours Blinn College credit possible. Grade Placement: 99-12 1/2 credit This technical laboratory course provides an understanding of the various careers in media technology fields. Stduents are introduced to media technology, commercial photography, advertising design, and computer graphics. Instruction includes operation of different types of cameras, audio techniques, electronic editing, creation of media graphics, lighting, script writing, direction, production, special effects, signal control and monitoring equipment, and set design. Grade Placement: 10-12 1 credit Introduction is designed to provide job specific training for entry-level employment in video, and television careers.
