Advanced Placement is a rigorous academic program created by the College Board which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. Students who obtain high scores on the examinations can earn college credit or placement while still in high school. According to the College Board, AP makes students more desirable to colleges, increases eligibility for scholarships, and improves four-year graduation rates.

BHS Theater Arts Department provides Brenham High School students with opportunities to hone acting skills and perform with confidence, as well as gain experience with sets, costumes, lighting and sound.  The purpose of Theater Arts is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for cognitive, creative, emotional and social growth. Challenging Scientific Investigations (CSI) is a Brenham ISD Initiative that provides an opportunity for 2nd - 6th Grade Gifted and Talented students to explore science and technology as they read, write, solve problems, conduct experiments and apply science to their daily lives. DrumFIT is a program that directly targets many problems students and educators face. In addition to being a great source of physical activity DrumFIT also provides essential ‘Brain Fitness’ components such as: fine motor skills, coordination, reflexes, cross lateral movement, bilateral movement, spatial awareness, eye hand coordination, unilateral movement and cognitive association.

Elementary Libraries in Brenham ISD aim to provide a welcoming space with specific resources to meet student and staff needs.  Our hope is to inspire the minds of students and staff, promote lifelong learning, support the reading curriculum at all grade levels, and encourage an environment that lets students make, create, and learn. Hour of Code is a global movement involving millions of students from over 180 countries.  In 2014, over 1700 kindergarten through twelfth grade Brenham ISD students participated in this movement.  The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science organized by the non-profit organization Code.org in celebration of Computer Science Education Week.  For more information, visit www.hourofcode.com.  

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) Academy in Brenham ISD provides an avenue for all BISD K-4 students to be part of an innovative, collaborative experience using critical thinking skills and hands-on activities to develop the necessary skills needed for success in a global world.
