School Board Recognition Month

Dear Cub Nation,

Today is a great day to be a Cub!

Happy New Year and welcome back to a new and exciting semester! I hope that you are ready to continue our transformational work together. As we strive to educate the hearts and minds of more than 5,000 students, I encourage you to remain focused on student safety, district unity, and a commitment to academic excellence for all students. Continuing to strengthen the Brenham brand and our academic reputation remains a top priority. One of our district goals is to maintain a laser focus on earning an A (formerly called Exemplary rating) under the Texas Education Agency’s accountability system. Last year our district earned a B (87). Together, we remain committed to nurturing, developing and building a strong and robust future for our students! Your genuine dedication and commitment to our goals are appreciated.

During the month of January, we also celebrate School Board Recognition Month. I trust that you will join me in honoring and showing our sincerest appreciation to our board of trustees for their outstanding service. Our board represents the very best of what it means to live in a democracy. The board of trustees serves as our elected representatives, adopting policy, emphatically advocating, and representing our interests at the local and state level. They provide leadership, governance, and oversight to ensure that our district continues to operate efficiently and lead the way in Texas public education.

Brenham is a strong and highly coveted community because we have excellent schools and committed staff. Our school district’s mission and vision are set and governed by the school board. Great things happen in Brenham ISD because of our great board! Our board members serve this wonderful district without receiving any compensation, and our board’s combined years of service represent nearly 60 years of governance experience. What a remarkable testament to servant leadership! As you see our board members in and around our schools and community, please join me in thanking each of them for their service and commitment to our future!

I look forward to seeing you around the district. Thank you for the privilege to serve.
