BACK-TO-SCHOOL 2022-2023

The health and safety of our students, staff and visitors is paramount, and we are closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19. We are adhering to guidance from the local health officials, the Texas Department of Health & Human Services and the Center of Disease Control (CDC). With information changing daily, we encourage families to stay up to date on information about COVID-19.

On August 1st 2022, TEA released the latest COVID protocols. The protocols are as follows,

As provided in this Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Rule, school systems must exclude students from attending school in person who have or are suspected of having COVID-19, and must immediately notify parents if this is determined while on campus. As noted in the rule, exclusion shall continue until the conditions for re-entry are met:

For children with symptoms, at least 5 days have passed since symptom onset, and fever free, and other symptoms have improved.

Children who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have any symptoms must stay home until at least 5 days after the day they were tested.

For staff, the same 5 day criteria outlined above applies. BISD no longer has any COVID tests. Based on guidance from our local health official we are not requiring a COVID test for anyone found to be in close contact.

**COVID Days are no longer available from the district.  When creating your staff absence, please use "sick leave".**
