Anuar & Jennifer Maycotte

This month the “You Make a Difference Award” recognizes a couple from outside of our community who donated their time and expertise for the families of Brenham ISD. When Karem Chandler set out to create the F.A.M.E. Cafe and parent resource center, she called on experts for help - her brother and sister-in-law Anuar and Jennifer Maycotte, owners of Trunks and Twigs Reclaimed Wood Home Furnishings. Anuar and Jennifer traveled to Brenham multiple times to help with the planning, construction and installation of several furniture pieces in the new F.A.M.E. Cafe at Brenham Community Education. These friends of Brenham ISD exemplify our district brand of better together and Brenham United!

Champion Drive Planning Committee

This month the “You Make a Difference Award” recognizes a group of people who pour their heart and soul into producing a very special event for Brenham ISD. Champion Drive, a program designed to provide a fair experience to Brenham ISD students with special needs and their families, is a collaborative effort between Brenham ISD staff and students and dozens of local sponsors and volunteers. Champion Drive committee members donate hours of their time to select participants and buddies, coordinate volunteers, solicit sponsors and donations, and organize a one-of-a-kind event for our students with special needs. This year, Champion Drive had 39 participants and the event raised $20,000 to purchase prizes and awards for participants, as well as provide lunch for participants, buddies, and their families.
