Today is a great day to be a Cub!

Today is a great day to be a Cub!

It’s hard to believe that we have just finished the first six weeks of school. Academic routines are underway, and our students and teachers are engaged in the educational process. A huge shout out to everyone who helped bring support and relief to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Brenham is blessed and fortunate to have been spared the wrath of that thousand-year natural disaster.

We are proud of the academic achievements of our Brenham ISD campuses, students, and teachers. We could not be successful without the dedication and hard work of a committed and talented teaching and support staff, and students who put forth the effort and energy to be world-class scholars.

Our Spring 2017 STAAR/EOC assessments showed significant and impressive improvements in all areas! Our six academic campuses earned fourteen  Texas Education Agency Academic Distinctions! This is a remarkable achievement! Brenham ISD only earned 3 TEA Academic Distinctions in the 2016 STAAR/EOC year. These distinctions are a true testament to the hard work and investment of all stakeholders. In addition to the academic distinctions, Alton Elementary Met State Standards and earned two TEA Academic Distinctions! We are extremely proud of the Alton staff and Mr. Ogg for his outstanding leadership and dedication to academic excellence!

This year one of our district priorities is to develop a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) task force with a vision of developing future STEM Academies in our school district. Additionally, we are invested in the growth of our Gateway Gifted & Talented program. Our goal is to implement this program on our additional elementary campuses in the future.

We have a lot to celebrate and be proud of in this district! Thank you for being a loyal and dedicated supporter of Brenham ISD, the first public school district in Texas. We look forward to seeing you around town, as you help us promote the wonderful things that we are doing in Brenham ISD.

Go Cubs!
