Brittni KalichDirector of Technology Services

The Director of Technology Services is responsible for overseeing the technical infrastructure of the district, leading a team of technology support staff, determining business requirements for IT systems, managing the design and implementation of IT infrastructure, and eliminating security risks.

The Communications Technology Coordinator works in collaboration with the district's Communications Department and Technology Services Department.  The CTE supports and collaborates with campus staff to identify the best uses for technology in instruction to create engaging and effective learning experiences. The CTC supports teachers with software tools, learning systems & applications, instructional technology strategies and best practices, and multimedia integration in their classrooms.

They also provide numerous professional development opportunities and act as a liaison for teacher and technician interactions when necessary. Teachers should make the Communications Technology Coordinator their first contact for supporting them with instructional technology in their classrooms.

Anglea assists the director in the day-to-day management of the department. She handles technology purchasing and technology inventory for the district. As the administrative assistant, communication is a primary responsibility in handling incoming department calls and directs them to the proper staff. Angela also manages time and attendance and clerical documentation for the department.
Brian WeeksNetwork Systems Engineer

The network systems engineer is responsible for the BISD core network which encompasses the data center and all the major connections to Brenham ISD schools and facilities. The engineer is responsible for design, installation, and maintenance of network cables and associated equipment. Maintaining a robust internet that is protected, filtered, and accessible is a primary duty.

The Brenham ISD engineer provides support for a long list of systems including, security cameras, phones, HVAC controls\scheduling, firewall, content filtering, email security and forensics, data server backups, sound and audio-visual, and many other programs.

Wayne McknightNetwork Specialist

Network specialists are the "utility players" for technology departments. They usually cover a wide variety of responsibilities. In this situation, Wayne handles student and staff network accounts and onboarding to our major programs. This staff member works closely with the systems coordinator supporting the back-office servers, databases, and programs that require connectivity, automation, and access.

This staff member supports and maintains accounts in Microsoft AD, Google, and Eduphoria. They are part of the network team and helps with installations and maintenance of network servers and equipment. Other responsibilities include data server maintenance and virtual server systems.

Joel KnoxNetwork Specialist

This network specialist is designated as a "LAN" specialist (local area network). The position is tied very closely to the network systems engineer but is focused on maintaining and supporting campus and facility networks. Primary duties include campus wireless networks and data closet devices, phone systems, security cameras, and network printers.

Joel works as a team member with the engineer and the other network specialist to install and maintain network servers and equipment. Other responsibilities include support and training computer technicians in basic networking and applications.

It is all about the devices and hardware for computer technicians. Computer technicians are responsible for installing, updating, and maintaining campus computers, printers, projectors, Smartboards, interactive displays, and peripheral equipment. They work closely with their campus ITS to pick up, distribute, and repair devices so teachers and students have the tools they need. The technicians rely on work orders to keep them organized and set priorities on getting repairs completed. Detailed work orders are essential for quick service from our technicians.

Chelsea BestSTEM Curriculum Coordinator (EC-12)

The STEM Curriculum Coordinator (EC-12) is essential in enhancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education across our district. This role primarily focuses on the implementation and oversight of the newly approved science curriculum, ensuring it aligns with state standards and educational best practices.

Key responsibilities include:

Science Curriculum Development and Implementation: Lead the district in adopting and executing the new science curriculum, providing guidance and support to teachers for delivering high-quality science instruction that encourages inquiry and critical thinking.

Professional Development: Design and facilitate professional development for educators, focusing on effective science teaching strategies and integrating technology into the classroom to enhance student learning outcomes.

Collaboration and Support: Work with school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure consistent and effective science instruction across all grade levels. Provide resources, coaching, and ongoing support to educators.

Program Evaluation and Improvement: Assess the effectiveness of the science curriculum and programs, using data and feedback to make informed decisions for continuous improvement and excellence in science education.

Through innovative leadership and a commitment to educational excellence, the STEM Curriculum Coordinator plays a crucial role in advancing the district’s vision for science education, preparing students for future academic and career success.
