Welcome back, Cub Nation!

Dear Cub Nation,

Today is a great day to be a Cub!

Welcome back to another exciting school year! We’ve all been diligently working to ensure that this will be the best year ever!

We have many new faces on our team for the coming year, but rest assured that despite the changes, everything you know, love and enjoy about our district remains as we are constantly improving. We will remain laser focused on our mission of educating the hearts and minds of our students in a safe and nurturing environment.

This year our district theme is “Great Things Happen Here!” Just a few weeks ago the Texas Education Agency released preliminary letter grades for districts across the state. We are proud to share that Brenham ISD earned a B for the 2018-2019 academic year. Under the former accountability system, our district would be rated a TEA “Recognized” district, all while meeting significantly higher academic standards under the new accountability system. Last year our district’s letter grade was C. As you can see, the hard work of our students, teachers, principals and support staff has paid off with tremendous benefits. Continuing on our quest for academic excellence, our high school graduation rates and our ACT and SAT student performance continue to surpass the state averages. Great things are truly happening here!

As we all return to school over the coming days and weeks, I trust that you will arrive back with the excitement and genuine optimism required for us to continue the positive transformation in the lives of our 5,000 students. Families choose Brenham because of its small town feeling, local charm, and for our caring teachers and high performing schools. We all choose to work, live and thrive in Brenham because Great Things Happen Here!

I am excited and honored that you have chosen the Brenham Cub Nation and I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!
