COVID-19 Coronavirus Update - Spring Break Travel
Dear Brenham Cub Nation,

We are reaching out to you today to inform you that we are aware of your concerns as it relates to the COVID-19 novel coronavirus and its impact on our students, staff and community. Please be aware that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brenham ISD or in our community; however, we want you to know that we take this issue very seriously and that we are in constant contact with our local health department and our health representatives from across the state. We assure you that we will communicate any changes with district operations should they occur. In the meantime, we ask that you continue to follow the precautions shared by the CDC and on our website at

CDC is working with state and local public health partners to implement after-travel health precautions. Brenham ISD encourages staff, students and families to follow CDC guidelines regarding international travel.

Official CDC Travel Alerts -

Based on the official CDC Travel Alerts posted on March 11, countries that have a Level 3 Travel Health Notice (widespread, ongoing transmission):

-South Korea

The Texas Education Agency stated on March 6 that “districts and open-enrollment charter schools have the authority to request that students and/or staff stay home if there is serious concern about their current health, whether or not they pose a health risk to others in the community.”

Students and/or staff members (including substitutes and tutors) who have traveled to one of these countries over Spring Break are asked to self-quarantine for 14 days per CDC guidelines. Should you or family members require self-quarantine, email and BEFORE you or your child return to school on Monday, March 16th and include the following information:

-Names of all Brenham ISD students and/or staff members affected by the Level 3 Travel Health Notice
-Country/countries visited
-Date of arrival to country/countries and date of departure from country/countries designated on the Level 3 Travel Health Notice
-Date of re-entry into the United States
-Statement of intent to self-quarantine
-Proposed end date of self-quarantine
