Brenham High School FFA welding students take top honors

Brenham High School FFA welding students were recently honored for their participation in the Texas High School Welding Series for the 2019-2020 school year. The series was started last year in an effort to showcase students' talents within the welding industry and with potential employers and to provide opportunities for students to earn prizes and scholarships. Although some of the 12 competitions were cancelled due to COVID-19, students from around the state competed in one competition hosted by Blinn College Hodde Center and Brenham FFA in October.

Brenham FFA is proud to celebrate several students who earned top spots based on the point system used to determine overall winners in each division: Welding 1,2, and 3; Cutting; and Tool Identification and Safety.

Luis Delgadillo - Welding 2, 11th place

Jayden Ladewig - Cutting, 2nd place

Justin Majewski - Welding 1, 7th place

Travis Sallach - Tool Identification and Safety, 6th place; Cutting, 6th place

“These students all worked very hard to compete against 200-400 other students,” said FFA Advisor Colby Finke. “For these students to finish on top in overall standings really says something and I am super proud of each one of them and all their hard work.”
