Cub Band earns honors at Blinn Marching Festival

The Cub Band had a good performance at the Blinn Marching Festival. The band earned Outstanding Drum Majors and Guard. We were second place in percussion and the second place band in conferences 5A. As a staff we are very pleased that we had the highest music score of any band all day, regardless of school classification. With more practice, the visual scores will rise but we always feel like the music is the most important place to start.

Our 8:30 exhibition was outstanding. Students and staff all felt like everything was better the second time around. We hope that this will help us as we move forward and go to contests that have a true "finals" competition. The attitude of the band was awesome before we started and seeing the overwhelming turnout to see us perform that evening was a big boost. I know the students felt a lot better about performing when they came out for that final run and there was a lot of excitement at the conclusion.

Now we turn our attention to the football game this week, where we are very excited for our home audience to finally get to see the complete product. Also, we are preparing for a stout 5A lineup at the Katy Marching Festival on Saturday. Our preliminary performance is at 2:30 in the new Katy Legacy Stadium.
