Program Overview
The Brenham Green Cord Program recognizes students who make a sustained commitment to serving their community throughout their high school career. Students who complete the program earn the honor of wearing a green service cord at graduation.

Eligibility
• Open to all Brenham High School students.
• Students must complete 100 total verified hours of community service: 25 hours per year of high school
(9th–12th grade).
• Hours may be earned through:
- School-sponsored service projects.
- Approved community organizations.
- Volunteer activities outside of school with proper documentation.

Special Credit: Annual Brenham Big Event
• Participation in the Annual Brenham Big Event counts for 13 hours each year.
• Students may apply these hours toward their 25-hour yearly requirement.
• The remaining hours for that year must be earned through other approved service opportunities.

Service Guidelines
• Service hours must be unpaid.
• Activities must benefit the community, non-profits, schools, or civic organizations.
• Hours cannot be earned for:
- Family obligations (e.g., babysitting siblings).
- Work done for for-profit businesses.
- School club meetings (unless a service activity is conducted during the meeting).

Documentation & Deadlines
• Students must use the Brenham Green Cord Hour Tracking Form for all activities.
• Each entry must include: date of service, description of service, number of hours, and signature of the supervising organization representative.
• Yearly logs are due to the Counseling Office by May 1 of each school year.
• Final cumulative log is due by May 1 of senior year.

Award
Students who complete all 100 verified hours will receive:
• Green graduation cord presented during Senior Awards Night.
• Recognition in the graduation program.
